I have been working with birthing families since 2007. I am passionate about providing holistic, compassionate care.

About the Midwife

My philosophy as a midwife is simple: I believe in care that is centered around education, empowerment, and shared decision making. I believe that my role as a midwife is help guide you on your journey by providing the resources you need to make decisions about your care that you feel confident about. I don’t have an agenda for your birth. I believe that midwifery care is about providing knowledge, it is about dignity in health care and birth, and it is about supporting families through the stages of life.

I have been honored to wipe brows and rub backs, sway through contractions, sit quietly in observation, and offer gentle hands to welcome new life for over a decade. I am fiercely passionate about protecting the rights of all people to make the choices that are right for their families. I am passionate about equality and justice in health care. I believe in supporting families through pregnancy with nutrition and movement.

My path to midwifery began with working with refugees from Africa at a shelter in Israel as a volunteer doula. I quickly developed a passion for birth and health care justice and knew that I wanted to be a part of changing the maternity care paradigm. I moved to the US to study midwifery and was honored to learn from experienced and talented midwives across the country before settling in southern Maine. From September 2023-January 2025 I was on sabbatical while I got my Masters of Public Health from Harvard. My MPH is in Global Health and I completed dual concentrations in Maternal Child Health and Humanitarian Studies. While at Harvard I was selected to a Rose Service Learning Fellow and traveled to Uganda to work with a local health forum to create a simulation skills training program for midwives. I hope to return to Africa someday soon and continue to build the project there. I care deeply about addressing maternal health disparities around the world. I am excited to be coming back to working with families in Maine.

I am a mama of two amazing girls who were born at home and with whom I am learning more about the world with each day. We live in a Victorian farm house near the Saco River. I love sewing and making clothes, building things, exploring the beaches and the woods, road trips, camping, traveling the world, and being barefoot.

We are so thankful that we found Ariel for the birth of our second child. Ariel will be a good match for you if you are looking for extremely professional, thoughtful care during your pregnancy and postpartum. She is a direct communicator and will help you to trust your intuition as a mother and as a birth partner. She also helped us to prepare and include our older daughter in the birth process. We wish we could give her six stars!
